I have DoubleVision for UNIX/Linux and am satisfied with it. Why do I need DoubleVision Pro?
In today's computing environment, it's very common that PCs and UNIX/Linux servers co-exist on the same network. Typically, PCs are used to access the applications on the UNIX/Linux servers either with client/server software, or terminal emulation. In either case, DoubleVision® for UNIX/Linux does NOT allow you to remotely access or control the PCs on your network. Given that a majority of the technical support and system administration needs are for the PCs, it only makes sense to have a product that lets you access and control both the UNIX/Linux server and the PC. That product is DoubleVision Pro. Chances are, if you have both PCs and UNIX/Linux in your computing environment, you can use DoubleVision PRO to access any of those computers. This will make supporting ALL your computers much easier and faster.
Can I use the Internet to access my remote computers with DoubleVision Pro?
Yes you can. DoubleVision Pro supports local networks, dial-up networks and the Internet. It even provides encryption and reverse connections for rock solid security.
I want to administer and support my remote systems using the Internet, but I am scared of the security risk.
DoubleVision Pro comes standard with 1028-bit SSL-compatible encryption. What this means is that any information sent over the Internet between your computer and the remote computer is complete encrypted. It is virtually impossible for someone to de-encrypt the information. DoubleVision Pro allows you to make use of a faster and less expensive connection without worrying about the security of your information.
Other remote control products require you to open up ports (or pinholes) in network firewalls to allow them to be accessed via the Internet. How is DoubleVision Pro any different?
DoubleVision Pro, with the optional DoubleVision Internet Access Server, provides something called "reverse connections". Reverse connections allow the user/computer that you need to view to initiate the remote control session of the Internet. When that happens, the remote computer actually initiates an outbound connection over the Internet back to your DoubleVision Internet Access Server. Once that connection is established, it will appear in the left-hand network view window of DoubleVision Pro. You simply select the computer, authenticate, and you have access. Since the remote connection was initiated as an outbound connection from the remote user, no pinholes need to be opened on their firewall. DoubleVision Pro, when combined with DoubleVision Internet Access Server, provides an easy means to use the Internet for remote administration and support, without compromising your security.
How is DoubleVision Pro priced?
DoubleVision Pro is priced by the module. There is a separate module for each major operating system that DoubleVision Pro supports. The Windows module is priced on a per computer basis, which means the price you pay for this module is dependant on the number of PCs you want to remotely access and control with DoubleVision Pro. The UNIX/Linux module is priced on a per server basis, which means the price you pay is dependant on the type of UNIX/Linux server you have. This pricing method is very similar to our DoubleVision UNIX/Linux pricing scheme. Click here for DoubleVision Pro pricing.

I have UNIX/Linux computers and Windows computers that I need to remotely access. What DoubleVision Pro modules do I need to install and where?
Since DoubleVision Pro is cross-platform, you will need to install the proper "module" on every computer you wish to view and control. DoubleVision Pro's Windows module supports Windows Œ95 all the way up to Windows XP. DoubleVision Pro's UNIX/Linux modules support all the common UNIX and Linux operating systems. You would simply install the appropriate module on each computer you wish to view and control, run DoubleVision Pro, and point and click to view. It's that easy.
I have a file on my PC that I need to transfer over to my Linux server. Can DoubleVision Pro help me with that?
Sure. Since DoubleVision Pro is cross-platform, you can transfer files from and to any computer that is running DoubleVision Pro. You simply point at the computer you wish to send your file to and click on the File Transfer button. DoubleVision Pro takes it from there. No more sending CDs or floppies, or worst still, sending someone on-site to load files.
I have a remote network that consists of PCs networked to a UNIX/Linux server. I really want to remotely access those PCs, but I only have a dial-up line into my UNIX/Linux server. How can I gain access to those PCs?
Since DoubleVision Pro supports dial-up networking, it is very easy to do. Simply add your remote UNIX/Linux server as a dial-up node in DoubleVision Pro. To view the remote PCs networked to that UNIX/Linux server, simply double-click the dial-up node and DoubleVision Pro will connect to your remote UNIX/Linux server. Once the connection is complete, you will see a complete list of all the computers that are on the remote network, including all the PCs. Double click on the computer you wish to view. Your remote UNIX/Linux server will need to support PPP dial-up in order to do this. DoubleVison Pro makes the configuration of PPP dial-up on UNIX/Linux servers straightforward.
