DoubleVision Pro 4.1 BUILD #4 AIX Module Last Update: December 21, 2004 RELEASE NOTES ================================================================== THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS VERY IMPORTANT. SOME OF THIS INFORMATION SUPERSEDES THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE USER'S GUIDE. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU READ THESE RELEASE NOTES COMPLETELY BEFORE INSTALLING OR USING DOUBLEVISION PRO. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR : **************** ************************* AIX 5.3 ******************************** ***** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 4.10.00 BUILD #4 ******* *********************** December 21, 2004 ************************ ****************************************************************** [AIX] DoubleVision Pro has added support AIX 5.3. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro 4.10.00 build #4 has been officially ported to AIX 5.3 with support for 32 and 64 bit RISC systems. [AIX] Daemons are not started from /etc/inittab on AIX 5.3 ------------------------------------------------------------------- We encountered a problem with another AIX program during our porting of DoubleVision Pro. An AIX program "install_assist", declared in the /etc/inittab database, is preventing most daemons from executing properly. We theorize that the "install_assist" program was hanging and preventing other daemons from running. This is more than likely a system configuration issue. If you encounter a problem where the DoubleVision Pro daemons are not starting after system boot please check to see if the "install_assist" program is enabled in your system /etc/inittab database file. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR : **************** *********************AIX 4.3/5.1/5.2 ***************************** ***** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 4.00.10 BUILD #1 ******* ****************************************************************** [AIX] DoubleVision Pro -4 Open Server failed error ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro 4.00.01 build #1 contains a fix for the reported -4 Open Server failed error message received upon viewing attempts of terminals with a "PRE" status. Several reports were made that viewing attempts failed on certain tty's when the DoubleVision Pro "Status" column registered as "PRE". The problem was resolved by re-initializing the connection when a screen server process was not present for the host tty. [AIX] DoubleVision Pro with Cumulative fixes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision 4.00.10 build #1 contains cumulative bug fixes resolved on other Unix/Linux platforms. To include the "^@" problem reported. When the remote user connects to a host tty and enters the first keystrokes, garbage in the buffer produced a "^@" as the first sequence to pass to the host. [AIX] DoubleVision Pro install and removal script name changes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- The DoubleVision Pro installation script has been renamed from 'install-dv' to 'install-dvpro'. The same has been done for the removal script, 'remove-dv' has been renamed to 'remove-dvpro'. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR : **************** **************************** AIX 5.2 ***************************** ***** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 2.00.00 BUILD #3 ******* ****************************************************************** [AIX] DoubleVision Pro 2.00.00 build #3 ported to AIX 5.2 ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro version 2.00.00 build #3 contains support for AIX 5L. The file extraction descends the following list of directories: /bin /usr /usr/lib /usr/bin The software extraction left root only access to the list of directories above. One of the possible effects of this change is non-root users being unable to log in the system. The file extraction now has the standard permissions set for SCO systems. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR: ***************** ****************** Linux Intel 2.4/XXPLATFORM ******************** ****** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 2.00.00 BUILD #2 ****** ****************************************************************** [LINUX INTEL] General Daemon fixes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro 2.00.00 build #2 for Linux intel contains general fixes to the DoubleVision Pro remote control daemons. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR : **************** ************** SCO UNIX/MPX 3.2.4.2/3.2.5.0-6 ******************** ***** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 2.00.00 BUILD #2 ******* ****************************************************************** [SCO] General Daemon fixes. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro 2.00.00 build #2 for SCO contains general fixes to the DoubleVision Pro remote control daemons. ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR : **************** ************************* AIX 4.3.X ****************************** ***** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 2.00.00 BUILD #1 ******* ****************************************************************** [AIX] DoubleVision Pro 2.00.00 build #1 ported to AIX 4.3.X ------------------------------------------------------------------- ****************************************************************** ******************* THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR: ***************** ****************** Linux Intel 2.4/XXPLATFORM ******************** ****** THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE FOR RELEASE 2.00.00 BUILD #1 ****** ****************************************************************** [LINUX INTEL] DoubleVision Pro 2.00.00 build #1 ported to RedHat 2.4.XX kernel version platforms. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DoubleVision Pro supports most RedHat systems running a 2.4.XX linux kernel.
